Happy Mothers Day to my children

I found this poem years ago and it always makes me giggle - so happy Mothers Day to all moms, and of course to my children. And here is what you all have to look forward to.

When I'm an old lady

When I’m an old lady, I’ll live with my son.
And make his life happy and filled with such fun,
I want to pay back all the joy he’s provided,
When I’m an old lady and live with my son.

I’ll write on the wall with red, white and blue,
And bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes,
I’ll drink from the carton and then leave it out,
I’ll stuff all the toilets and oh will he shout!
When I’m an old lady and live with my son.

When he’s on the phone and just out of reach,
I’ll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh he’ll snap his fingers and then shake his head,
And when he’s all done I’ll hide under the bed.
When I’m an old lady and live with my son.

When my son’s wife cooks dinner and calls me to meals,
I’ll not eat my green beans or salads congealed.
I’ll gag on my brussel sprouts, spill my milk on the table,
And when she gets angry, run fast as I’m able,
When I’m an old lady and live with my son.

I’ll sit close to the T.V., thru the channels I’ll click,
I’ll cross both my eyes and see if they stick,
I’ll take off both my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud until the end of the day.
When I’m an old lady and live with my son.

And later in bed, I’ll lay back and sigh,
And thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
And my son will look down and with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, “she’s so sweet when she’s sleeping.”
When I’m an old lady and live with my son . . . .

$25 Walmart giftcard giveaway compliments of Cascade Complete All-in-one Actions Packs -

Contest is closed ---------

Thank you all for entering and leaving comments.
The winner is Lyn!

MyBlogSpark offered me this challenge and giveaway to post on my blog.
They sent me a very nice baking dish and a package of Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPacs for the dishwasher.

This is the challenge I got from Cascade - We dare you to take the 24 Hour Challenge.

Instructions:

Bake a Cherry Cobbler.* Enjoy!

Set the empty baking dish out for 24 hours

Without rinsing, put it in the dishwasher with Cascade Complete

Now I normally rinse all the dishes pretty well before I load them in the dishwasher, don't you?

and then, they wanted me to post a picture of the dried-on, unrinsed, unscrubbed dish when it came out the dishwasher. I thought this was very bold of them and did not think there would be a clean dish at the end of the cycle,
but see for yourself! It really did come clean. I think I've finally found a dishwasher detergent I really like.

They provided me with a $25 Walmart giftcard to award to one of the commenter's.
To enter, just tell me what meal leaves the most mess on your cookware

May 1st Yard Sales

Two neighborhoods in my town had yard sales as well as a few single family sales - we went to as quite a few of them starting at 7am. By 9, we were tired and had a full vehicle so we headed back home.
Here's what we bought--

Mary Englebriet cherry crock - 25 cents!

I think these Melamine baby dishes are so cute, they were just $1 for the whole lot

not pretty pink Pyrex like last week, but these clear Pyrex bowls will be very useful $1
2 sippy cups 25 cents each

4 like new bathtowels - 25 cents each - perfect for dog washing

Stacking cup toy 50 cents
assorted books, 25 cents each
salt and pepper shakers - maybe $2?

Little Tykes Slide and rocking horse, also a swing for Gavin.
Outdoor toys were on my list of things I hoped to find and these were all in great condition and very cheap, I think each one was $2,

Theo with the Little Tykes turtle sand box - $5.
Jeff saw the new ones at Walmart for $37.99

Jeff and Bobby hung the swing up from the pergola - and you can see my garden in the background - everything is in pots - more on that later.

I hope you all got out and found some great things at yard sales too!

Stamp Lot from Tuesday Morning

My town recently had a Tuesday Morning open up. It is a really nice, big store with good prices. Sophia has posted many times about neat things she finds at her Tuesday Morning, mostly craft things. I told her about this stamp lot I bought a few weeks ago and she wanted to see picture. All these stamps, along with a big book were in a sealed box and sold for about $14, the box did not tell exactly what stamps were in the box, just kind of labeled as an assortment.

My cashier was also a scrapbooker, she was wondering what stamps were in this box, and since there was not a line of customers behind me, I opened it after I paid for it. The cashier and I both thought it was a really good deal.

If you want to see the stamps in detail, you may need to click on each picture to enlarge it.

This is my stamp shelf at home, I really needed some more stamps, didn't I?

weekend yard sale finds

Jeff, Nina and I went to quite a few yard sales Saturday. We saw lots of junk but we did find a few treasures. I did not get pictures of Nina's things but she got a few baby things, a mirror/planter box she hung in their entryway, a closet organizer and dry-erase magnetic calendar bulletin board.
Our 3 biggest purchases were all from one seller - some newlyweds, just graduating from OSU - who will be moving to Poland to work as missionaries in a coffee shop. They were selling off most all of their possessions. These first 3 things are from them.

3 large glass storage jars, $5 for all 3
I've been using some not so pretty Tupperware for my baking canisters, now I will be switching them to these pretty glass jars.

a very heavy glass, and very pretty bathroom set for $5

Jeff has been wanting a dock for his Ipod and was very happy to buy this one for $10
It works great and he says the new ones sell for $99 at Walmart

2 nice wood puzzles for when Gavin and baby E are both a little bigger - $1 each

Discovery Toy Boomering links - $2

hula girl shirt bought for 25 cents, not for the shirt but I like the fabric and plan on cutting it up, then sewing it in to some other project

He is not from a yard sale, but he was a rescue puppy. This is Fletch, one of our "grand-dogs" and he is spending the night with us. Isn't it amazing how he sits upright on his bottom?
